And so I end the week as I started it - with a day off!

I'm heading to Wales for the weekend, which, if previous visits are anything to go by, will be relaxing and gorgeous.

Have a great weekend! x

The news is full of the A level results today - another record-breaking year! Clearly we're breeding geniuses as standard now, or maybe you just get an A level for being able to get your shoes on the right feet and leaving the house. Well done everyone!

Twenty-two years ago I got my results. I really have no remembrance of that day at all. Not one. I think by the time they came out they'd lost their importance to me. I'd already decided at the start of Sixth Form that I wasn't going to university - 5 years in the exam factory that was secondary school finished me off with education. Instead Sixth Form was a great growing experience for me.

So I didn't need results to get into a university, and I was still trying to work out what kind of job I was after but I think I'd worked out that high grades weren't important. Which was just as well as I got a D, two E's and an N - N meaning nearly an E but not quite. Oh the insult! They were in: English Literature, French, Economics & Public Affairs, and Art - that's right, I failed Art!

What a pity I didn't get four A's - imagine how great my life could have been! Oh wait, it is anyway....

Summer's back!

It's been properly gorgeous today - hot, sunny, clear blue skies - at last! Of course I had to look at it through the office window, but just knowing it was there helped! I should have made an effort to do something this evening but instead I opted for ironing and a couple of episodes of Doctor Who, which worked for me!

The wine is working its magic on me so I'm off to bed - night night!

I had a day off yesterday, which is clearly the only way to start the week!

Sarah and her boyfriend David are over from Barcelona for a few weeks and this weekend were staying locally, so I spent the day catching up with them. I started the day gossiping in Sarah's Mum's kitchen, which is always fun, then headed off in the car, with the roof down, for a bit of a jaunt.

We got picnic ingredients then went to Thetford Forest. It's a big man-made forest just down the road from me, but astonishingly I don't think I've been there since I was a child. We headed into Big Wood once we'd read the notice warning us to be afraid of adders - as if I wasn't already! It was a nice walk, but it was more of a medium wood to be honest. The only people we saw were in the car park, which was ideal!

Then we headed to Norwich, which of course I'm a big fan of. We had a nice wander in the sun, and a look round the shops so David could be more shirts to go with the enormous amount he apparently has. We tried to find a film to see but the cinemas were overrun with summer stuff, so instead we had a cup of tea at Cinema City then saw an exhibition of photographs at The Forum. Norwich was lovely - well done!

We came back to mine for a cup of tea and a gossip, then went out to the Indian restaurant at the end of the road. As always the food was great! It really was the ideal end to a lovely day! Gorgeous to see you both! XXX

As has become my habit this summer I made no plans for the weekend.

Yesterday started with a haircut and a little potter round the shops. In one of them I spotted one of my occasional married men, which I rather wish hadn't happened - we ignored each other, which is how these things are supposed to work, but inside of giving me the usual "I know your secret" frisson I just thought "oh why did I bother?"

Today's man news is that FM & BF have sold their house and are moving to Kent over the Bank Holiday weekend. I thought they'd taken it off the market so I was a bit surprised to hear they were going. It will be the end of an era, but everything has to end at some point.

But apparently not - FM will still be working in the area so BF asked me if he could stay over occasionally. It seemed rude to say no, and it would be fun to see him now and then so I said yes. Then BF said could it be once a week?! "He'll pay", he said, but my first thought was, "dear God no!" I don't want someone in my house on a weekly basis! What a ridiculous idea!
